Understanding Why Some Care Requires an In-Person Visit (FAQ)
Why can’t the clinic complete my paperwork or prescribe certain medications if I haven’t been seen?
This is a common question, and we understand it can feel frustrating.
Primary care and urgent care serve different roles. At Desert Senita, we provide ongoing primary care, which means we focus on your health over time, not just one visit.
Because of that, some services depend on having current medical information and an established relationship with your provider.
Why we may not be able to complete your paperwork?
Many forms, especially those related to conditions like diabetes, require:
Recent clinic visits
Updated lab results
Ongoing documentation of your condition
If you have not been seen at our clinic, or if labs and follow-ups have not been completed, we may not have the information needed to complete these forms accurately.
Your provider must ensure that any paperwork reflects your current health status and meets medical and legal standards. In many cases, this requires an in-person visit.
Why some medications require a visit?
Certain medications, including controlled substances, require:
A provider evaluation
Ongoing monitoring
An established provider-patient relationship
These steps are in place to ensure medications are safe and appropriate for your specific health needs.
Your provider will determine what is appropriate based on your evaluation and medical history.
What you can do?
If you need paperwork completed or help managing a condition like diabetes, the best next step is to schedule a visit.
During your visit, we can:
Review your medical history
Order or update labs if needed
Create accurate documentation
Build a care plan that supports your health
Our goal in Primary Care
Our role in primary care in the communities we serve like, Ajo, Arizona City and Coolidge, is to support your health over time, not just in one moment.
We are here to help you get the care you need, and that starts with understanding your health fully.
Care is available regardless of insurance status, and we offer programs that may help reduce the cost of services based on your family size and income.
If you have an urgent medical concern, we will help guide you to the appropriate care.
